Ameko Barefoot: Is This the Right Brand for Your Child?
When choosing barefoot shoes for children, foot length is only one part of the story. The shape of the foot often plays an even bigger role in finding a comfortable and well-fitting pair.
Every barefoot brand fits slightly differently. Some work best for wide feet, others for narrow feet, and some sit somewhere in between.
Ameko belongs to the latter group. Based on the models currently available in our store, it is a brand that works particularly well for children with average foot proportions and a naturally shaped foot that gradually widens towards the toes.
What Foot Shape Does Ameko Fit Best?
From our experience, Ameko barefoot shoes are best suited for:
- feet with normal width,
- foot shapes that gradually widen from heel to toes,
- normal heel width,
- normal to slightly higher instep.
The heel construction is lightly structured. It keeps its shape without feeling rigid, providing a good balance between stability and natural movement.
When Might Another Barefoot Brand Be a Better Choice?
Every child’s feet are unique.
If your child has very wide feet, a very high instep or a particularly voluminous foot shape, you may want to consider brands designed with a roomier fit.
This does not mean Ameko will not fit, but these foot types often benefit from brands offering more overall volume.
Why We Added Ameko to Our Collection
Ameko is a family-run footwear manufacturer with more than 30 years of experience.
What caught our attention was not only the barefoot construction itself, but also the company's approach to production.
The entire manufacturing process takes place within their own facility – from development and pattern construction to stitching, assembly and packaging.
The development process involves cooperation with physiotherapists and experienced footwear designers, helping ensure that comfort and functionality remain at the forefront.
Made in Europe Using Tested Materials
Ameko shoes are manufactured in Europe using laboratory-tested materials.
This is particularly important for children's footwear, where material safety matters just as much as flexibility and comfort.
The brand also holds the "Zdrowa Stopa" certification awarded by the Institute of Leather Industry, confirming compliance with strict quality standards.
For us, European production is not only about location – it also means transparency, accountability and consistent quality control.

At the moment, our Ameko range includes:

We plan to gradually expand the selection as the collection grows.
Ameko Slippers

Our Experience
We do not see Ameko as a short-term trend or simply another new brand.
Instead, we see it as a well-balanced barefoot option that fills an important space between narrower and very wide barefoot models.
For many children with average foot proportions, that balance can be exactly what makes finding the right barefoot shoes easier.
